How to reduce cough

Asked for Male, 57 Years

My father diagnosed with acute pneumonitis and taking prescribed medication. But cough is happening and he is eating very less. Taste is not there and weakness. Please suggest me how to reduce the cough. He is taking steam regularly and can we add Vicks in the steam.
