Horizontal impacted wisdom tooth
I have horizontally impacted wisdom tooth in lower right area creating excess pressure and pain to adjacent molars . The tooth is completely covered under the gum ( cannot be seen from outside ) .. my question is .. is there a chance of nerve damage after removal .. ( as the jaw nerve which gives Sensation to cheek and lower lip is quite close to wisdom tooth ( which in my case is little bit deep inside the gum ).

Hello I am a oral surgeon. For exactly locating nerve cbct scan is advisable which can give exact location of nerve wrt wisdom tooth accordingly chances of nerve damage can be assessed. Normally it is very low but in case nerve is very close it can happen.

There is no chance of nerve damage while removing impacted wisdom tooth as such usually. Xray has to be taken prior to extraction.
