Hiv test result
Hi doc. After potential hiv exposure i took pep for 28 days. Then tested anti hiv ab/ag 5 weeks(1 week after pep) after exposure. Result non reactive 0.07. Again tested 6 weeks after exposure. Result non reactive 0.12. Once again tested 7 weeks after exposure. Result non reactive 0.19. My doubt is why is the non reactive index value increasing consistantly. All the test are done in the same lab. Thanks doctor.

Hello. Sir I understand your situation, I think you should know that there is something called window period in HIV which means a person can be infected with the virus and might also be infectious but the test result will be negative during this period. It usually lasts upto 3 wks to 3 months depending on the strain. Based on the reports you have given it clearly shows you dont have HIV but since there is also chance of window period get ELISA done after this period. If you are still worried go to nearest ICTC center for further queries.
