HIV from Barbour's trimmer
While my 5 year old son was cutting his hairs in a Barbour saloon, he got a cut on his neck by the Barbour's trimmer as he shaked his head a little during the process. If that trimmer had been used by someone else before my son and as I feared there might be some blood from the previous person(if any) within the blades of trimmer which might not be exposed to air for which HIV might live and infect. Is there any chance of HIV transmission due to this incident?

LISTEN MOST WORRIED FATHER as india is progressing, the government every some period educate barber about Chang of blade of fumigate  blade before using to other people. Mostly barber follow advice. But exceptions r every where. In your case It's over thinking. I m a sr citizen retired doc from ART CENTRE GOVERNMENT SECTOR, this is not at all the route of transmission. Ok Relax.barbers apply alum after each procedure which is an antiseptic. Your kid is safe.

It’s natural to worry when something like this happens, especially when it involves your child. Let me reassure you right away – the chances of HIV transmission in this situation are almost zero. HIV doesn’t survive well outside the human body. If there was any blood from a previous person on the trimmer, it would likely have been exposed to air and rendered inactive. Plus, the cut caused by the trimmer is superficial and doesn’t offer the kind of deep access to the bloodstream that HIV needs to spread. Think about it – barber tools like trimmers or razors have been around forever, and there’s no record of HIV transmission happening this way. The virus simply can’t survive or replicate on a surface like a trimmer blade. What’s important is to clean your son’s wound with soap and water, apply some antiseptic, and keep it covered. Keep an eye on it for redness or swelling, but even that’s more about avoiding a regular infection than anything else. If you’re still feeling anxious, there’s no harm in talking to a doctor for peace of mind. But trust me, post-exposure treatment for HIV isn’t needed here. This incident, while scary at first, doesn’t pose any real risk of HIV transmission. Take care of your son’s wound, give him a hug, and rest easy – he’s going to be absolutely fine.
