High resistant flow in umbilical artery
To my friend's wife, 32-33 Weeks scans indicates High resistant flow in umbilical artery. What are all the impaction to the baby because of this issue. Is there any way to rectify it?

Noted finding. Resistance index being high indicates the level of resistance to blood flow through the umb artery. Pulsatility would need to be looked together along with the end diastolic flow. The risk of restricted growth in the baby is high. Other factors to consider is pre eclampsia,high blood pressure in pregn, obesity, gestational diabetes. Baby factors would be its weight and fluid volume. There is no way it can be rectified as it’s a little late to start aspirin tablets. But certainly will need to be monitored and also assess the need for early delivery.good luck!!
