High Fasting Blood Sugar

Hi Last week i had a blood sugar test, fasting results are 159 after meal are 85 & 97 on two consecutive days is it OK i just want to know that am i diabetic or i have some other problem i have no symptoms of diabetes.. please help me iam very stressed

Hello,

   Is it right that your FBS is 159 & PPBS 97.If it is so then you have impaired fasting glucose which means you are prone for diabetes For confirmation go for GTT( Glucose Tolerance Test) where they will test your fasting and then give you 75 gms of glucose and tesr 1 hr and 2hrs after that.Remember to maintain 10-12 hrs between your dinner previous night and the fasting sample.
Also check your HbA1C. which will give you your previous 3 months average glucose levels.It should not cross 5.5% for a non- diabetic..6%-7% indicates borderline diabetes,7% & above indicates. full blown diabetes.
