Your cortisol is elevated but only mild and is seen with stress, poor sleep, anxiety or fluctuating BP, so there’s no need to panic. A proper consultation can help correlate your symptoms, BP pattern, sleep issues and reports together and guide whether this needs only lifestyle correction, repeat testing or further evaluation 👍

"A morning Serum Cortisol level of 25.2 is moderately elevated. Cortisol is the body's primary 'stress hormone,' and its levels naturally peak in the early morning. While a slight elevation can be caused by physical or emotional stress, chronic high levels are directly linked to your fluctuating blood pressure and insomnia. In a 56-year-old patient, we must determine if this is 'functional stress' or if the adrenal glands are overproducing cortisol, which can lead to more significant metabolic issues if left unmanaged
Next Steps
Sleep Hygiene: "Cortisol and sleep have a 'vicious cycle' relationship—high cortisol keeps you awake, and lack of sleep raises cortisol. Try to stop all screen use 1 hour before bed and practice deep breathing exercises to naturally lower your stress response." Caffeine Reduction: "Limit caffeine intake strictly to the morning hours. Caffeine triggers the adrenal glands to release more cortisol, which will further worsen your BP fluctuations and sleep quality." Caution: "Do not start any 'stress-relief' supplements or hormonal medications without a clinical diagnosis, as some can interfere with further testing results." Red Flags: "Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a sudden, severe headache, rapid weight gain in the midsection, or if your blood pressure readings exceed 160/100 mmHg."
