High BP 170/100
Hi, Need advise for my mom who has been constantly having this reading for the past 2 months. She also gets giddy at times and on the verge for a fall. Pls opine.

Hello , I understand your query. Firstly we need to rule out the other causes of secondary hypertension in your mother ,such as renal artery stenosis ,phaeochromocytoma . Secondly, start her on Anti hypertensives . Thirdly ,we need to rule out the complications of hypertension such as hypertensive retinopathy,renal failure  and hypertensive heart disease. Fourth, She need to get a Mri brain if she continues to feel giddy to rulebout lacunar stroke . Hope it helped . Do get back to me if you need further assistance . Regards Dr EMMANUEL MJ MD
