Herpes simplex virus and cold sores
The first time that I experienced cold sores on my lips was in 2019. At that time, I had not been intimate with anyone, but around 4 months prior to that I was. In the past, I had been intimate with two other partners (boyfriends) at different stages of my life. And I don't remember clearly if any of them had ever had a cold sore ever in the duration of our friendship and relationship.
I was told that my grandmother who we lived with while growing up had oral herpes and cold sores.
I am wondering how I contracted the virus.
