Severe anaemia is due to some persistent blood loss somewhere in the intestines. Had it been from stomach it would have caused black stools due to acid haematin formation. It is also not from piles which would be obvious bleeding after defaecation as a jet. It could also be due to infestation by hook worms which should again be investigated in stools carefully by repeat stool examination. A capsule camera intestinal scan can help in locating any frank bleeder. Show at some higher centre of Gastro Enterology after correcting haemoblobin level satisfactorily.
