Snoring can be caused by various factors, such as nasal congestion, sleep position, or underlying medical conditions. To investigate the issue, you might consider: Consulting a Doctor: Start by speaking with a medical professional, such as an ear, nose, and throat specialist (ENT) or a sleep specialist. They can help identify the potential causes and recommend appropriate tests. Sleep Study (Polysomnography): A sleep study can be conducted in a sleep center or even at home to monitor your sleep patterns, breathing, heart rate, and other factors during the night. This can help diagnose sleep disorders like sleep apnea, which can contribute to snoring. Physical Examination: A doctor may examine your throat, nose, and mouth to look for physical factors that could be causing snoring, such as nasal congestion, enlarged tonsils, or a deviated septum. Lifestyle Changes: Your doctor might suggest lifestyle changes, such as losing weight, avoiding alcohol and sedatives before bedtime, and changing sleep positions. Imaging Tests: In some cases, imaging tests like X-rays or CT scans might be used to assess any structural abnormalities that could be contributing to snoring.
