HbA1c is 5.51, should I be worried
My sons HbA1c is 5.51 the range should be less than 5.9, even though it is within the normal range, still he is close to the border of prediabetes, so I am really worried about that... Should I restrict him from taking sweets and be more precaution and find ways to lower his HbA1c or is it I am worrying unnecessarily... Please guide me... Please

His hba1c is normal. However, you must still keep a check on his diet and prevent him from getting addicted to fatty foods, fast foods etc.   Children today are becoming obese and are at a higher risk of diabetes in early adulthood. Risk is higher if there is a history of diabetes in blood relatives. Also encourage him to indulge in physical activity like sports.
