Hb1Ac is high
My mother has Type II diabetes for the past 10 years. She has had an Hb1ac of 8.4 for nine consecutive months. Her previous Hb1ac score was good, sometimes even below 6.4. After her Hb1aC shot up, she started taking Amla Jamun Juice in the morning and diabetes medication in the morning as well (of course prescribed). I don't know how to control this. Maybe a change in diet or a complete overhaul of medication. I'm lost.  I am looking for an answer here.

It can be challenging to manage blood sugar levels, especially with such a significant rise in HbA1c like your mother's. Here are a few suggestions that might help in understanding and addressing her situation: 1. Consult an Endocrinologist/Diabetologist 2. Medication Review - Combination of Medications: If she’s on just one medication, it might not be enough at this stage of diabetes. Often, people require a combination of drugs, including insulin, to bring down blood sugar levels. 3. Diet Overhaul - Carbohydrate Counting: Reducing carbohydrate intake, especially from refined carbs like white rice, bread, and sweets, could help significantly. Focus on low-glycemic index foods such as vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. 4. Exercise If she's physically able, even light daily exercise such as walking can help control blood sugar. Exercise makes the body more sensitive to insulin and can significantly lower blood glucose levels. 5. Alternative Supplements - Amla Jamun Juice: While these are traditional remedies believed to help with blood sugar levels, they should be used as supplements, not substitutes for medical treatment. Ensure that these supplements do not interact negatively with her prescribed medications.
