Have some questions for physios .
Dear Physiotherapists,  I am a student considering physiotherapy as a career, but I am still trying to understand the reality of the profession. Most of my current impressions come from online reviews, discussions, and personal stories, which range from very positive to very negative. Because of this, I have several questions and concerns that I hope experienced physiotherapists can help answer.  1. Is physiotherapy truly an evidence-based and scientific profession in day-to-day practice  2. How is the future demand for physiotherapists, especially in India and abroad ? 3. How competitive is the field, and what are the biggest challenges new graduates face? 4. Is it realistically possible to earn a comfortable income through ethical, science-based practice or income is capped ? 6. How satisfied are you with your career choice overall? 7.what do you wish you had known before entering this proffession ,i have request that more physios answer this question so that i can get good data .

1 Yes, physiotherapy is an evidence-based practice 2 Demand in India has recently increased 3 Very competitive, struggle to get a well-paid job, especially after completing a degree, even MPT is underpaid. 4 It's difficult 5 Not much satisfied as it demands more physical work and is underpaid compared to other professions 7 Every profession has its own struggle but if you dont get what you deserve then it feels bad.

As a physiotherapist, my perspective is: ✔️ Yes, physiotherapy is evidence-based and scientific when practiced properly. Assessment, clinical reasoning and exercise prescription are all based on research and patient outcomes. ✔️ Demand is increasing in India and abroad due to growing awareness of rehabilitation, sports injuries, lifestyle disorders and ageing populations. ✔️ The field is competitive, and the biggest challenge for fresh graduates is not finding a job but developing strong clinical skills and confidence. ✔️ A good income is possible through ethical practice, but it usually takes time, experience and continuous learning. Quick success is uncommon in any healthcare profession. ✔️ Career satisfaction is high if you genuinely enjoy patient care, movement science and helping people recover. ✔️ What I wish I knew earlier: Clinical skills, communication and patient trust matter far more than degrees and certificates alone.

Hi, I'm a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and as a practicing physiotherapist here is my opinion: 1. Yes, Physiotherapy is strongly evidence-based. The profession focuses on the scientific evaluation of treatment approaches, continually ensuring that treatments are demonstrated to be both safe and effective. 2. The field of physiotherapy is quickly increasing, with several job opportunities in hospitals, sports, corporate settings, and private practice. Demand in India is increasing due to an aging population, an increase in musculoskeletal problems, and a greater emphasis on preventative care and sports. While India provides strong foundational experience and expanding demand, other markets such as the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and the UAE provide much greater salary and structured career advancement. 3. The most challenging task for recent physiotherapy graduates is bridging the gap between academic theory and practical, high-volume clinical practice. Beginner therapists frequently struggle with growing caseloads, complex patient requirements, managing time challenges, and feeling the emotional burden of steering patient recoveries. 4. Through evidence based practice and by ensuring all ethically comfortable income earning is possible, but it varies depending upon specialization, location and clinical setup. 5. Overall, I m satisfied with my career choice because it helps me to help people to be independent and improve quality of life. 6. I would recommend that before choosing you should explore other healthcare options like occupational therapy and put that knowledge in day to day Physiotherapy.

1 Yes, physiotherapy is largely evidence-based and scientific when practiced according to current research , but the reality is people are not doing so, some are and some of them are not 2 Demand is increasing in areas such as rehabilitation, sports, neurology, geriatrics, and home care, but salary is not. 3 The field is competitive, especially for fresh graduates, and continuous skill development is important. 4 A comfortable income is possible, but it often depends on many factors  like experience, specialization, location, and practice setting. 5 Overall, I am satisfied with my career choice. 6 But before choosing, I would also  recommend to explore relate other healthcare fields such as Radiology and Occupational Therapy and compare their scope, interests, and career opportunities.
