Hairline fracture on the MedialMalleolus
I twisted my ankle a week ago & went for an Xray although there was no pain. Dr said he saw a very small bone chip and put in a cast and has asked me to keep it for 4 weeks.
I have no pain at all, I read on several boards that this can heal without a cast. Can i take off the cast and restrict movement and let it heal naturally? its been 1 week.

No you mustn't self decide the treatment. Medical doctors spend years before they can give their opinions.
Fractures could be of different types.The healing depends upon the way bone is broken,how it has happened and whether it involves surrounding tissue injury .
Non healing/ wrong healing leads to life long pain and inability to walk.
