There are many types of glomerulonephritis some of which are common and some are quite rare. Yes glomerulonephritis can lead to chronic kidney disease if not treated promptly. Some types of glomerulonephritis can go into remission by themselves without treatment or with treatment. If they won't recur and kidny function is normal (both by serum creatinine and urine examination wise) it can be considered as cure. Many other types of glomerulonephritis won't be cured but with treatment we try to keep them under control so that protein in the urine and kidney function will be normal. In this case some people respond to treatment and have normal functions and some dont. Those who dont respond to treatment have very high risk of developing chronic kidney disease. THANKS
