Your history suggests possibility of piles. Sigmoidoscopy is not needed in routine piles cases. you need to visit a General Surgeon for a simple rectal examination which can reveal the correct staging and correct diagnosis of the disease. gastroenterology is not the right speciality to treat piles.

Piles or haemorrhoids mostly. But that can be confirmed with proctoscopy or sigmoidoscopy.
