Gastric Issue and pain
Hello, It's been 2 weeks where I am noticing pain in my left abdomen radiating to the back I did my consultation with the doctor when I saw black poop in my washroom. The doctor did ask me for an endoscopy. I am trying to understand if endoscopy will give out an accurate result. I have also noticed one peculiar symptom where whenever I empty my bowels it starts paining and I feel a sort of diarrhea . Not sure if this is anything gastric related or colon related. Please share your thoughts.

The black stools (melena) combined with abdominal pain strongly suggests upper gastrointestinal bleeding, which could be due to: Peptic ulcers in the stomach or small intestine Gastritis (inflammation of stomach lining) If you are not on any iron supplements. An upper endoscopy is strongly indicated in your case because: It helps evaluate upper abdominal pain and identify the source of bleeding It allows direct visualization of the digestive tract and collection of biopsies if needed It enables immediate therapeutic intervention if active bleeding is found
Next Steps
This requires urgent medical attention - please do not delay seeking care as upper GI bleeding can be serious Until you can see a doctor: Stay hydrated with clear fluids Avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen Monitor for additional symptoms like: Severe abdominal pain Dizziness/lightheadedness Vomiting blood Fever
Health Tips
Foods to Avoid: Spicy and fatty foods Dairy products (except plain yogurt) Caffeine and alcohol Raw fruits and vegetables initially
