Kidney stone if small can be treated with medicines but gall bladder stones even if small need complete removal of gall bladder with laparoscope/ laser as first gall bladder get non functional than stones starts forming. So no use of keeping diseased gallbladder in body.

Kidney stones can be treated by medical treatment, depending on Ultrasound finding and size of stones.
But for Gall Bladder stones, Surgery is only option, until it's contraindicated or not possible because of Medical condition of the patient.
