Since the stone is big in size and sitting at the neck of gall bladder it might obstruct the flow of bile outward from the GB. This might lead to inflammation,  gall bladder wall thickening leading to cholecystitis. Added to this if your mother has other comorbidities like diabetes this will further aggravate the problem. These stones never get dissolved with any medicines or injections rather they keep increasing in size.  So it is always better to plan for surgery which is simple straight forward minor operation. No side effects and life long the stones will never ever come back. Operation being done with laparoscopy the pain is very minimal and the hospital stay is also just 2 days
