Gall bladder removal surgery
My mom has gone through gall bladder removal surgery through laparoscopy and after surgery got a drain bag which is usual...The doctor has recommended to remove it after almost 44 hours as her fluid quantity was less like first day she has no fluid inside the bag but the fluid can be seen in the pipe but the next day it was collected in the bag ..So is removing that too early normal or there is a chance of fluid buildup?

Ideally after 72 hrs after surgery if there will be very less or minimal collection in the bag . If you see any green coloured fluid Contact the operated surgeon

If it's just fluid.. like yellowish reddish fluid than not an issue it can be removed.. some surgeons don't even keep the drain for a single day . So not an issue.. it can be removed.. Even if there is fluid inside the body will absorb it easily in few days . If the fluid is green in colour! Than that is a problem.. you need to see the surgeon again!!

Greetings!! A drain tube following gall bladder removal is subjective to the surgeon who operated (he/she knows the intra operative findings and difficulties) It is kept to detect any leak or to drain any spilled bile. If it is just staining the tube and the bag, it can be removed at 24-48 hours based on the operating surgeons advice. 44 hours is not early If the patient is stable, eating well without much complaints, not to worry about the drain tube being pulled out. Wishing her a full recovery
