Talk to experienced dermatologist online and get your health questions answered in just 5 minutes.
The symptoms of redness, irritation, itching, and slight cuts after wearing a new ring could be due to an allergic reaction (contact dermatitis) or irritation caused by the ring material or fit. The spreading to adjacent fingers suggests the reaction might be aggravated by moisture or friction.
Next Steps
I recommend removing the ring and avoiding wearing it until the irritation subsides. Clean the affected area gently with a mild soap and water, and keep it dry. You may need a topical medication to reduce inflammation and itching, which a dermatologist can prescribe. If the condition persists, consult me online for a detailed evaluation and treatment plan.
Health Tips
Avoid wearing tight or ill-fitted rings. Opt for hypoallergenic materials like pure gold or surgical-grade stainless steel to prevent future reactions. Do not scratch the area, as it can lead to infection or worsen the irritation.
