You can do only one thing; Consult with the Doctor who operated on your mother. I think you have not written the correct name of the operation that your mother has undergone.

Any sort of pain , shortness of breathing after a major surgery like esophagectomy warrants immediate consultation with the surgeon who did the procedure. One has to rule out the lung complications which is common with this type of surgery.

As Dr. Nikhil Aggarwal, I recommend taking the following steps for your mother: 1. **Consult with the Surgical Team:** It's important to contact the surgical team who performed the esophagectomy to discuss your mother's symptoms. They can provide specific guidance based on her medical history and the details of her surgery. 2. **Monitor Vital Signs:** Keep track of your mother's vital signs, including her temperature, heart rate, and breathing rate. If she has shortness of breath, monitor her oxygen saturation levels using a pulse oximeter if available. 3. **Pain Management:** Ensure your mother is taking her prescribed pain medications regularly and as directed. If the pain persists or worsens, inform the surgical team for further evaluation and adjustment of pain management. 4. **Nutrition and Hydration:** Continue following the prescribed full liquid/soft food diet and encourage your mother to stay hydrated. Proper nutrition and hydration are essential for recovery after surgery. 5. **Activity and Rest:** Encourage your mother to engage in light physical activity as tolerated, but also ensure she gets adequate rest and avoids overexertion. 6. **Supportive Care:** Provide emotional support and assistance with daily activities as needed. It's common for patients to feel weak and fatigued during the recovery period following major surgery. 7. **Follow-up Appointment:** Schedule a follow-up appointment with the surgical team or her primary care physician for a thorough evaluation of her symptoms and overall recovery progress. 8. **Emergency Care:** If your mother experiences severe pain, worsening shortness of breath, or any other concerning symptoms, seek emergency medical attention immediately. It's important to address your mother's symptoms promptly to ensure she receives appropriate care and support during her recovery from esophagectomy.
