Recurrent episodes of vomiting, loose motions, and fever in an 8-year-old child are not normal and do need proper evaluation. From the history you’ve described, a few possibilities need to be considered, such as: • Food intolerance or food allergy (including gluten or milk protein related issues) • Celiac disease (even if gluten intake has been reduced, it still needs proper testing) • Recurrent gut infections or parasitic infestation • Inflammatory or functional gastrointestinal disorders Since the symptoms are recurrent and long-standing, simply avoiding foods may not be enough, and we need to identify the exact cause. Recommended initial tests To find the underlying reason, the following tests are usually advised: • Complete blood count (CBC) • ESR / CRP (to look for inflammation or infection) • Stool routine examination and stool culture • Stool test for parasites • Celiac screening (tTG-IgA with total IgA levels) • Serum electrolytes (if vomiting/diarrhea is frequent) Further tests can be planned based on these reports and clinical findings. What you can do meanwhile • Ensure good hydration (ORS during loose motions) • Avoid self-restricting multiple food groups without medical advice • Maintain a symptom diary (food intake vs symptoms) Because this is a chronic and recurrent problem, I strongly recommend a detailed evaluation and guided testing rather than trial-and-error food avoidance.
