Hello. It is good to know that you quit smoking. Keep up the good work. Chest Xray can sometimes give some clues to the damage done due to smoking. However you will need a Pulmonary function test ( PFT ) to measure the damage to the lungs. I would also suggest you to see a chest physician and get yourself examined.

Smoking more than 100 cigarettes in life time is considered deleterious to the lungs even after cessation of smoking. Tests available to check the lung functions are spirometry and complete pulmonary function testing. X ray chest most of the times missed the lung damage which usually seen in advanced stages. If any abnormality found on x ray chest then you may go for CT scan of the chest.

Now that you have stopped smoking , wait and watch . If it doesn't then consult your Family physician . Else see Pulmonologist in your local area . He may perform tests before or after treatment !
