Fracture at metacarpals

Found Fracture at metacarpals & carpals Joint in Little finger and Ring finger in the x-ray. Hand got swelled at the time of injury but swelling gone with ice packs. Happened 20days back, assumed normal injury, but doctor confirmed fracture. Now, very less swelling in hand, some pain at Metacarpals and Proximal phalanges joints of Little and Ring finger. There is a high point on Metacarpals,with some pain. Doctor said, bones joint at wrong place, nothing can be done now, apart of surgery. Please advice

Hi there. Ideally I would like to see you and then make a judgement. But here are few general guide lines. If while bending fingers they are getting overlapped or going away from each other then usually surgery is needed. Another thing is if injured fingers are looking at a different attitude than uninjured ones then there's a need for surgery. However nobody can take final call without seeing you or x ray. Another thing I would like to add is if it's already been 3 weeks and actually surgery is needed then there is no more time to waste. Already you're late for surgery, now decision needs to be made as soon as possible.
