Hello ,
Lattice degeneration is a type of peripheral degenration. It is technically a weak part of the retina .
So in patients undergoing LASIK or cataract surgery , or if the degenration is associated with a symptomatic retinal hole , it is best advisable to LASER the degeneration before going ahead.
It takes less than 5 minutes to do so and is painless.
