Hi
My wife is currently at 14 weeks of pregnancy. At her 12th week in level-1 scan, a low lying placenta covering the os was observed.
We want to travel by 3 hours of domestic flight + 2 hours of airport trip (by car). During the travel she'll have assistance and won't carry any weights/luggage.
Wanted to know the advice?
In the past, no bleeding or spotting signs, and her vitals seems normal.
In the initial weeks, the placenta usually starts developing in the lower region and migrates upwards later on. This is a normal finding and nothing to worry as of now. Be careful not to do overexertion, running, lifting weights. if any symptoms of bleeding/ pain occur, visit a gynaecologist immediately.
A low-lying placenta at 12 weeks often moves away from the cervix as pregnancy advances. With no bleeding and normal vitals, 14 weeks is a reassuring stage. Short flights are usually fine this early if you're otherwise well, though a placenta covering the os is worth a quick check before you fly.
Next Steps
Ask your obstetrician for clearance and a fresh scan if it has been a while, then carry your pregnancy file during travel. Keep moving your legs and stay well hydrated on the flight and the drive.
Health Tips
Postpone the trip and get care right away if you notice bleeding, spotting or cramping at any point.
