Flextine 20mg long term use
8 months before doctor recommended me fluextine 20 mg. I am okay now but not able to leave the medicine. Doctor told me to leave it now. If I leave the medicine for 10 days, I get panic attacks. Can I continue it for lifelong. Can I take it occasionally .

Hi there, A detailed medical and psychiatric history is always needed for every patient. In addition to that, a detailed mental status examination is also recommended for every case to make a diagnosis and management of symptoms accordingly.
Next Steps
Duration of the treatment is to be decided by the treating mental health professional as per the response of the patient to the medications. Most of the time, drugs are not stopped all of a sudden but tapered.Other wise symptoms like panic attacks can happen. These can also be managed by other drugs.
Health Tips
Discuss your problems with your mental health professional. Be positive in your thoughts. Do Yoga relaxation exercises in addition to the medications.
