Fever not reducing even after calpol
From 27th July midnight around 2 my 11 months daughter got fever about 102.4 we gave her calpol but the temperature is not going below 101. She is also not taking any solid food. What should we do? Is only powdered milk sufficient for her recovery? Should we use wet patch on forehead after every one hour so temperature becomes normal? What should we do ? How to bring the temperature normal.

Hi If baby’s temperature is not decreasing by calpol, you should do tepid sponging with tap water. Only keeping wet patch over forehead won’t help. Baby’s appetite decreases during , so don’t push too much for solids. Keep offering plenty of fluids ( milk, water, coconut water, soups). If still high grade fever persist kindly visit hospital.

Hello Kindly consult your paediatrician for direct examination to assess the condition though it could be a viral cause hydration, chest examination should be done to rule out if there is any focus of infection. You can continue paracetamol, tepid sponging in meantime.

Greetings It is completely normal for a sick baby to refuse solid foods.Formula or powdered milk is fully sufficient to keep her well hydrated.Calpol aims to provide comfort rather than completely erasing the fever.Avoid cold wet patches, as shivering can raise her core temperature.Instead, dress her lightly and offer frequent, small feeds of milk. Please consult pediatrician immediately to evaluate this persistent fever.
