Fever between 99.5-99.9
Dear Doctor My son 9yrs. Has fever from 1st Jan only on 1st day he had head ache with other symptoms. Our family doctor was told it's a viral fever. But still the fever is not under control. Kindly suggest should we hv to go for covid testing.

Rtpcr for covid is advisable if there is a possibility of contact Viral fever usually takes 5-7 days to recovery

This is only the 2nd day. Exposure to cold on the New Year may be there. Give him warm saline gargle, steam inhalation , warm drinks . If the fever goes above 100 degree F give him Crocin 250mg once or twice today. He may be alright. If he was in a crowd, RT-PCR is advisable.
