It's your choice and decision, you wish counselling to cope up your distress. Follow session of the psychologist and set your goals, it's a mutual work . Whenever you feel that your distress and symptoms are not being improved to a extent that impairs your personal or professional life, medications with therapy will be best and are gold standard. At the  end , it's your choice, with therapy follow DBR, sleep hygiene,daily activity scheduling, problem solving techniques, anger management skills with your therapist
