As your MRI reports are normal it will be muscle spasm of your neck and back muscles . Muscle spasm is common in software engineers . Try to modify your working environment like height of chair and laptop during working and try to move from your desk for every two hours . Meanwhile Apply ice pack to your aching muscles and do simple neck exercises daily so that your neck will be free . Remove pillows and keep a cervical pillow which gives your better support .

It is common to get neck pain while on work due to improper posture, avoid pain killers, visit nearest physiotherapy clinic and take ulttasound for a week, later with cervical exercises the pain will reduce and muscles gain strength.
