Minoxidil does cause increased hair growth in other areas as a side effect. Maybe your technique of application is causing this. You should apply minoxidil only to the top of the scalp and prevent dripping onto your forehead or cheeks. Wash your hands and face after applying minoxidil to prevent any residues. Make sure you apply minoxidil more than an hour before sleeping and change your pillow covers regularly so that any medicine on them will get washed off. Another thing you can do is wrap your hair in a light towel before sleeping so that there is no contact of hair with your face while sleeping. I hope this helps. For any further queries, you can consult me online via Practo's direct consultation option.
Next Steps
Consult a certified dermatologist.
