The cataract surgery is being done for lens induced glaucoma. So you should have realistic expectations from cataract surgery.
Cataract surgery will improve vision but to a certain extent only because his optic nerve is not healthy.

The iol surgery will improve your vision. But other parameters such as Eye pressure,vitreous, Fundus, also decide the vision. Pl consult ophthalmologist for further evaluation and treatment.
