Eye lid margin Cleaning-Chalazion

Hi Please let me know if eye lid margins ( upper and lower) should be kept clean and procedure for same in order to prevent chalazion from occurring.Can I use sterilized cotton balls ,wet it with water to clean upper eye lid margin by opening eye and pulling upper lid up and then cleaning upper eye lid margin from inside of eye, is that safe?

Cleaning lid margins is alright but don't try to touch the inner part of eye . Just wash the eyes with luke warm or fresh clean water.
