Extra pulmonary tb
Hi Doctor, I have been diagnosed with Pleural effusion tuberculosis on 5th March. Since then my anti tb treatment has started. I wanted to ask that can I stay with my husband now and have relations with him. I want to make sure that he is not infected. Please reply.

Tubercular pleural effusion is less likely to infect others when compared to sputum positive pulmonary tuberculosis. However it is advisable to screen household contacts for tuberculosis.

The chances of TB spreading via pleural effusion are low. If your sputum is negative for Tb bacilli, you can stay with your husband and have normal relation.

Yes ,your TB is in pleura not in Lungs and it cant spread to anyone.
