Hello
It's very distressing to know you have feelings of restlessness with the use of escitalopram. Akathasia isn't a very common side effect of escitalopram use but in some cases it can occur depending on the persons sensitivity to the side effect and other underlying conditions or concomitant medications.
Next Steps
consult a psychiatrist for proper diagnosis and treatment

Hi, akathesia per se, is not a usual side effect of escitalopram but there are some cases where patients have described experiencing akathesia like symptoms with SSRIs.
Some people might experience restlessness in the initial phase of treatment with SSRIS but that is usually self limiting. Your doctor might prescribe low dose anxiolytic medications for a few weeks to help alleviate some of those initial symptoms of restlessness.
You might want to check if you are concomitantly taking other medications that are known to cause akathesia e.g some medications meant for gastric problems which contain domperidone or levosulpride or sulpride formulations, or certain medication preparations taken for migraine may also cause or worsen akathesia, etc
If, however, you or anyone you know is experiencing agitation, aggression or feel very restless or appear at potential risk of harm to self or others, please consult your psychiatrist immediately.
