Elongated styloid process or eagle's syndrome is a rare condition. You have to understand that diagnosis of symptomatic elongated styloid process is most important step which decides outcome of surgery. Usually local infiltration of lignocaine into the area of styloid process should relieve symptoms temporarily then diagnosis of symptomatic elongated styloid process is confirmed. In such cases surgery is usually very successful.
Many times medications are also helpful. Usually anti neuralgia medications work in most of the cases but needs to be taken for long term
