Surgery for Ear drum perforation does not cause hearing loss if you already don't have. And a perforation of moderate size will not close without surgery
You have to undergo surgery as moderate perforations don't heal spontaneously. And surgery has got nothing to do with hearing loss.It is done to prevent infections in future.
