Does the child have a cold? The pain in the child’s ear may be due to one of various things. The ear pain may be because of the pressure created by a cold. For this he will need antibiotics along with decongestants and meds to reduce the fever. Another cause of pain would be Wax impaction which will require wax softener ear drops. Otogesic ear drops will work if there is a problem /infection in the ear drum and without complete examination of the ear, a diagnosis cannot be made. For now it will be best to avoid otogesic.
Next Steps
Please visit an ENT specialist for diagnosis and further management.
Health Tips
Steam, plenty of fluids. Keep ear dry.
