Dry cough for 3 months

My mother is suffering from a dry cough for three months, she coughs sometimes in the day but mostly at night. For one year my mother suffered from herpes zoster. Please kindly suggest.

Is cough associated with mild fever at night? Is there history of weight loss? Does she cough out blood? Did she smoked? Consider getting Xray done Need detail history for proper evaluation and medication.
