Drug interactions
Hi I have a question about some drug interactions. So I have just been started on Lamotrigine 50mg and I also have the Nexplanon implant birth control. I have read online that the Lamotrigine can make my birth control less effective. Is this true and if it is new I need to find a new form of birth control?

Your doctor has prescribed Lamotrigine because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. However there are chances of ineffectiveness of Nexplanon being implanted. Consult your doctor for alternative medication while better to have a word with your Gynaecologist.  Better safe than sorry
