Down Syndrome
I'm 34 years old and I'm 14 weeks pregnant. I got ultrasound and double marker test done. The chances of down syndrome is low (85% no down syndrome). My doctor told me that there is another test called NIPT. If I want I can get that done and it gives more accurate results but it's expensive. I asked my friend if she got NIPT done and she said she didn't get it done as she was not aware of it. Also she was 28 years old then and her doctor had told her that she is in low risk. I think I'm also in low risk. Should I get NIPT done? Money is not a concern for me as of now and I can afford test. Hope that are no downside of doing the test.

Hello. If your NT NB scan and Double marker is screen negative and low risk for downs., then you are low risk..for downs., and two other trisomies. NIPT will confirm many more genetic syndromes. Since you are older than 30., your doctor may have given you this option.
