I was induced at 39 weeks 3 days and had vaginal delivery. So inducing labour pain and having vaginal delivery cause infection?
And Why Antibiotics are given?
Being induced and having a vaginal delivery doesn't by itself cause infection. Antibiotics around delivery are usually a precaution, not a sign of infection. They're common after a long labour, early rupture of your waters, or a tear or episiotomy repair. The real infection risk after any delivery comes mainly from how long labour lasted and how many internal exams were done, not from induction itself.
Next Steps
Watch for fever, foul-smelling discharge, or worsening pain at your stitch site over the next two weeks, and please see your obstetrician if any of these develop.
Health Tips
Go in the same day for high fever, heavy bleeding, or a wound that turns red, swollen, or increasingly painful.
