Do antidepressants cause hormonal imbala
Hi..I have been on antidepressants on and off since I was 23. Now I am 40. I never conceived due to severe endometriosis. I am always confused if my antidepressants cause lot of hormonal imbalance in my body or it is just a myth? I gain weight when takes antidepressants. Please advise the effect of antidepressants on female hormones. Thanks

Antidepressants can cause hormonal imbalance but the newer generation mild ones do not. You can talk to your psychiatrist about the ones you are taking and their effects.

Antidepressants do cause a lot of hormonal imbalance especially Prolactin. Prolactin is in turn linked with Oestrogen.
