Diabetes in age 59
Hello. My mother has just been diagnosed with diabetes.her fasting blood sugar was 119 and post lunch 125. She is 59years old and a teacher.we went to the doctor so he said we cn control it through diet and excercise. My mum walks in the morning. So cn we do it? She just baratholin glanf diagnosed.so doc said she should not take risk nd start taking medicines. Is it true? Can't we control it with diet? Pls help. diabetes doc gave 2mnths time to reduce the sugar. Can she do it? im confused.

Her sugar levels are not very high and a trial of lifestyle can be given. If needed she can be started on some safe medicines like metformin
