Septoplasty can be considered in patients over the age of 16-17 yrs. Every surgery has risks even though they may be only very uncommon or rare. You need to understand very clearly the benefits you will get from surgery and weigh them against the risks of the surgery before opting for it. Discuss this in detail with ENT your surgeon as not every case of deviated nasal septum needs surgery. However Septoplasty is a fairly common procedure with minimal complications if properly done.

I stopped doing Septoplasty 18 years back. I only do Endoscopic Nasal Surgeries, which are much safer and have none of the complications of Septoplasty. However, it being a more sophisticated surgery, is more expensive. The results however, are definitely worth the extra effort and expense.
