A depressed person will need professional help, be it counselling or/and medication depending on the severity. It is not advisable to live with problems or to experiment other ways.

Hello, Let's plz understand the reasons for not being able to go to a psychiatrist and then answer- 1. Fear of society (stigma)- one of the more common but poor reason not to seek help for a treatable condition. We should all fight against stigma, WHO has already campaigned for openness in discussion about mental health by its famous campaign "Let's talk". 2. Cost- different treatment service options are available across private and government sectors, where you can find a set up which is suitable to you in terms of cost. Hence this cannot be reason enough to deny yourself the help. 3. Unavailability- since you are from Delhi, I would presume that unavailability is not a major issue. Please seek and find out a psychiatrist near you. Practo may help you there else you can google for such services. 4. Fear of being judged- please do not worry, a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist is not going to judge you. Their primary and only intention will be to help you. 4. Not wanting to share your private feelings- please understand that it would be quiet alright to share your innermost feelings and fears in a professional secure environment, hence please do not hesitate. 5. Past negative experience- may be you have had a negative experience or learnt of someone's negative experience. However please do not generalize and be open to seeking help nad health. There are many reasons which can prompt you to seek help, but most important is your health and well being of self and everyone around you. Hence my polite request to you is to please break all barriers and seek help in form of consultation with a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist near you. Hope this helps you, best wishes for your health and future.
