Hi Friend, Good that you are seeking a help here. We can't control our thoughts. We have close to 70K thoughts a day.. Where your problem starts is only when you lock one particular thought and add an emotion to it.. That causes over thinking and create emotional disturbance like depression or anxiety. Consult a psychologist discuss your problem in details. He can guide to learn the tips and tricks to manage your thoughts better.

Hi, You have depression and that is why there is negative thinking and overthinking not really the other way round. what you have to learn is not how to control over thinking but what are you over thinking about? is it logical? rational? helping you? you have to learn to manage your irrational negative thoughts.

Feeling low, having crying spells, sleep and appetite disturbances, and difficulty in concentration and attention are some of the signs of Depression. Consult a Psychiatrist for a detailed assessment. It is likely with medication and counselings the symptoms will improve. If you are feeling suicidal or hopeless consult a Psychiatrist immediately.
